Duncan Grove awarded Fellowship of The Royal Photographic Society!
November 2010. Founded in 1853 “to promote the Art and Science of Photography”, The Royal Photographic Society is the oldest and most august organisation of its kind in the world. It awards three levels of Distinctions that recognise photographic ability – Licentiateship, Associateship and Fellowship.
Duncan’s tennis images won him an Associateship a few years ago and the Society has now announced that, on the strength of a panel of twenty of his Wimbledon 2010 images, Duncan has been awarded the coveted Fellowship.
The RPS’s Distinction Manager Andy Moore comments “The much sought after but notoriously hard-to-gain Fellowship (FRPS) is awarded for exceptional standards of excellence. Fellowship is the highest Distinction of The Royal Photographic Society and recognises original work and outstanding ability in a specialist field. We are delighted to recognise Duncan’s work in this way, especially since as far as we can remember this is the first time that a panel of tennis images has resulted in this Distinction. This achievement reinforces Duncan’s success in recent years of gaining acceptances in five of the last six of the Society’s International Exhibitions. He has also just had the honour of having one of his tennis images published alongside those of luminaries of the photographic world in the Society’s latest publication Portfolio TWO.”
Duncan’s FRPS panel of twenty images can be seen here.
